The rooms are dirty. Spiderwebs, dust, the whole shebang. It's a decent place but certainly not 4 or 5 stars. They try to pretend as so though. Wouldn't recommend to the experienced traveler or romantic couple with $ to spend. A leaking toilet from the room above (brown water leaking from the ceiling into the bathroom had us move rooms. They upgraded us the next morning to a "luxury" suite. It was still dirty. Cobwebs with flies in them. Lack of attention to detail. Try some other place in Mendocino until these guys get their act together.
We enjoyed complimentary breakfast and the taste of food was excellent.
It was very difficult to connect the call for confirmation before lodging.
We liked the hotel very much. The view from the windows was very nice, the bathroom wonderful (with a huge old bathtub) and very clean. The room was spacious and quiet and had old but reliable windows (which is important, because Mendocino may be very windy!) and a nice bed. Good breakfast facilities and very good restaurant (quite expensive, though).
The furniture is 'brocante', but in our room the two seats were worn out.
General decor of the facility and garden were lovely, as was the excellent indoor front porch with lots of natural light where I ate dinner and breakfast. Loved the classical music playing quietly in the background. Most of the rooms were nicely done. Cordial and accommodating staff.
Bedside lights were insufficient for reading in my room--#4 I think
The location and beauty of the inn was phenomenal. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Everything in town and access to the ocean was walking distance from the Inn. The Inn was beautiful, charming and well kept.
The room we were in was pretty noisy at night since the hotel bar is open to the publicand our room was right above it. We go to bed fairly early, so it was a bit of a problem, Next time I would stay in a room that was more private.
Unique and cozy room that had a deck with a beautiful view of gardens and ocean. The grounds of the Inn are beautiful, the location in the village of Mendocino is great, and the restaurant was wonderful. Breakfast is included with the room price and is fantastic.
gourmet breakfast that was included in my stay.
I enjoyed the antique atmosphere of the hotel (built in 1882), its closeness to the ocean and the excellent food.
My wife would have preferred a queen-sized bed to the full-sized bed in the room, but that would not have been in keeping with the older era atmosphere.
hotel was very charming. Ammenities were great. Perfect breakfast and great dinner at the inn's restaurant. And the town itself is absolutely adorable.
staying in a suite outiside the main building can be a downside. For us it didnt have much of an impact
Full breakfast included, location is conveniently right downtown. We had a problem with some of our room's cleanliness which was quickly handled by desk staff to our satisfaction.
There was a noisy wedding party the weekend we were there and smokers occasionally congregate around the front entrance forcing you to walk a gauntlet of smoke.
The food was excellent. The breakfast included with the room wasn't just your typical stale pastry and coffee. It was a full plate of food, all organic and fresh, so good in fact we ate there for dinner both nights as well. The bed was also very comfortable and the room was cozy.
The location is right in the heart of Mendocino. The gourmet breakfast was delicious and so convenient for our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable.
Great food, amazing service, and wonderfully appointed rooms.
The historic structure has been well maintained and was quiet and clean. It has a beautiful garden and is close to the beach and shops. The hotel provided free full breakfast and discounts for dinner.
I was satisfied and have no concerns.
The hostess gave us a free upgrade for a luxury suite which made celebration of our wedding anniversary even better. Complimentary breakfast was delicious. The room was amazing!
Our key to the main door after hours did not work. Even the hostess thought the lock must have been changed. It was not a big deal because she was right there at the same time we were trying to get in. A guest, already on the inside, let us in.
